Looking for unique holiday accommodation in an idyllic spot then let Quarterdeck be your answer. Quarterdeck is a ground floor unit ,with no steps, entrance directly from the car parking space. Wedged between the ocean and river, the water of Wooli River or of the Coral Sea are only metres from the front doorstep. This entertainer’s dream is a 2- bedroom apartment with a re-located locomotive shed attached.
Upon opening the gate,into Quarterdeck, you are immediately in a small private courtyard where the north sun streams in all year round. Entry to the unit is via the glass door into the entry vestibule. Turning left takes you immediately into the shed. Originally the shed was a locomotive garage, the train engine would be housed here when not being used. It has now been renovated Look around and you’ll see most of the gorgeous timber has been sandblasted and oiled to retain the beauty of these rare white mahogany trusses. In a nod to a time gone past, a few panels of the original colour were spared the sandblasting and they can be seen above the kitchen sink and bi-fold door. Likewise, all the steel work has been sandblasted and painted to protect them from the corrosive coastal environment.
Being an entertainer’s dream, this space is all about bringing the outside in. Push open the massive original doors into cosy, north facing courtyard, then turn to your right and open the stacker door to the barbecue area and you have a massive open plan living area. The barbecue area is a large fully fenced area with a 10 seater outdoor table. Perfect for holiday that is shaded, catches the prevailing breeze and is the perfect spot for relaxing, chatting, eating, entertaining and listening to the ocean just over metres away.
The kitchen space has a large wrap around bench running along two walls. A pull-out pantry provides ample space for groceries while deep kitchen drawers are filled with loads of crockery, cutlery, glasses, kitchen utensils and equipment to make holiday entertaining a breeze. A large French door, icemaker refrigerator sits at the far end of the bench. The kitchen island is a 2.2 metre extension of the kitchen bench. It is the heart of the kitchen and easily sits 6 around it. Under bench shelving complete with mobile charging station provides storage so the bench is always clear of car keys, hats etc.
The TV room sits on the other side of the vestibule. Here a very comfortable L shaped lounge sits opposite the 58” Netflix compatible TV.
A doorway from the TV room leads into the central corridor. Turn left and you access the master bedroom. This light filled space looks out through the kitchen to the outside barbeque entertaining area. Glossy white shutters control your privacy while crisp blues and white colour scheme give a coastal ambience. The second bedroom is a large room and sleeps 4. There are 2 king single beds that convert into a king bed as well as 2 single beds. Quarterdeck offers flexibility if families are travelling with grandparents or another couple, eg. parents and two children can use the second bedroom and grandparents the master.
At the other end of the corridor a is recently renovated bathroom with travertine tiles, bleached timber vanity and crisp white tiles.
